Heather Davidson
Ed.M., M.A., LPC, CST, PMH-C
I am a licensed professional counselor with over fifteen years of clinical experience. I am an AASECT certified sex therapist, a certified EMDR therapist with EMDRIA, and I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health with Postpartum Support International. I have completed postgraduate programs in couples and sex therapy, and fertility counseling, and I have completed Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I work with individuals and couples navigating pelvic/sexual pain conditions, infertility, low sexual desire, sexual functioning concerns, trauma (including birth trauma, medical trauma, traumatic loss of a loved one, attachment trauma, sexual trauma and critical incident trauma in first responders), anxiety disorders and burnout syndrome. I also work with clients facing a major life phase adjustment (welcoming a child, ending fertility treatments, moving, retiring, etc.) who may also be grieving a loss (of a parent, spouse, friend, etc.).
Approach
As a therapist, I work collaboratively with my clients and other healthcare providers involved in their care, ensuring a more integrated and comprehensive approach. I lead with compassion, fostering empowerment by tailoring each client’s treatment to leverage their unique strengths while addressing their challenges. My goal is to create a supportive environment where clients feel confident in their journey toward growth and healing. I often utilize the following evidenced-based techniques:
-
EMDR Therapy
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Sex Therapy
-

-
Psychodynamic Therapy

Education & Background
I received my Ed.M. & MA in counseling psychology from Columbia University in 2010. My early clinical experience was with veterans and police officers. Through my own struggle navigating our fragmented healthcare system while treating my endometriosis, I realized the immense gap in both the medical and mental health care systems for women with pelvic/sexual pain disorders, & aimed to become a provider that could help to bridge this gap. I continued to gain experience in trauma-informed care and opened my own practice in 2016. I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Sex Therapist Supervisor. I am also an EMDR certified therapist through the EMDR International Association, and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional with Postpartum Support International. I have completed post-graduate training programs in couples and sex therapy, and fertility counseling. In addition, I have completed Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
In addition to my clinical work, I have authored Effective Treatment of Women’s Pelvic and Sexual Pain Disorders: Healing the Body and Mind in the #MeToo Era (Routledge, 2023) and co-authored Master Conflict Therapy: A New Model for Practicing Couples & Sex Therapy (Routledge, 2018). I have also published articles in Counseling Today (American Counseling Association) and Contemporary Sexuality (AASECT). I frequently speak at local and national events on topics including couples and sex therapy integration, sexual and pelvic pain disorders, and trauma related disorders. I provide supervision for clinicians pursuing licensure in the state of Pennsylvania and those working towards AASECT certification.
